Hajat is a member of the local village savings and credit cooperative (SACCO) in Tehula, she is a mother of five. She used a small loan that she received from her group to start a small-scale poultry business. She now has additional income from selling eggs and poultry and is developing her farming business. For Hajat, this is all for her children’s future, “I want my children to grow up with opportunities that I never had. I can support their education so they may achieve a better life. I will get satisfaction from their success.”
We all need an ally at some point in our lives. When we find one, it can make all the difference in the world. Hajat’s story is one of the many good news stories from the Credit Union movement in Ethiopia.
