The project is focused on three priority areas of support identified by the Belize Credit Union League (BCUL): Support & advice in the development and roll out of the new BCUL monitoring regime; an evaluation of the BCUL Strategic Plan and advice on Marketing.

The proposed project duration is May to September 2016 and it will benefit 12 credit unions. Speaking about the contract, Alan Moore, ILCU Foundation General Manger, said, “We are delighted and grateful to be granted this funding from IFAD to support the development of credit unions in Belize. Obtaining this funding is a huge endorsement of the Irish credit union model. This would not have been achievable without the financial support of Irish credit unions across the island of Ireland and we thank them for their continued donations.”
